materials
We produce materials that reflect the truest expression of each species we work with. To this end, we use both reclaimed and newly milled lumber, selecting raw materials that best represent the grain, color, density, and character of any given species. In either case, we are present at the source, whether that means salvaging old growth timbers from a centuries-old building, or inspecting recently felled white oak logs to see which will yield the clearest cuts.
Lumber is sorted, catalogued, and milled at our facility in Baltimore, MD; it is here that the inherent beauty of natural materials meets the eyes, minds, and hands best suited to distill it into flooring of unparalleled quality.
Process
We mill flooring, wall cladding, and architectural elements using both reclaimed and sustainably harvested new lumber. Wood is a natural material, a product of a specific time and place, and its provenance is recorded in its grain. While we take pride in our craft, the goal is to let the wood speak for itself; wide planks, long lengths, and a careful grading process help preserve the natural record displayed on each board. Our flooring is offered unfinished, and most materials are available as either a solid or engineered product.
